Mocking the Devil By Laura Isabel Martínez

Mocking the Devil By Laura Isabel Martínez

A beautiful tradition of my country still performing The Dancing Devils of Naiguata and i ask you: how many of you want to dance to mock the devil?

On Feast of Corpus Christi morning, standing next to the door, he is listening to the fireworks with mask and bells in his hands, and a promise in mind.
Showing his dancing agility by doing the dance of the glass, reaffirming the deep faith he has, this being a representation of the Devil submission before God. He dances to pay his promise, to continue with his tradition, to hold off the devil.

I Love the street photography and show that part of how I’m to the people through my camera. Laura tells ShutYourAperture.
