Sony A6700 Street Photography Settings: Track the Subject
Sony A6700 street photography settings are most useful when they make it easier to see and react. Decide how much of the scene you want sharp, set a minimum shutter for movement, and give autofocus an intentional starting point. These are manual-backed suggestions, not results from a field test of this particular body.
Sony A6700 street photography settings to try
- Mode and ISO: Aperture Priority with Auto ISO can handle changing light. Sony’s A6700 ISO AUTO Min. SS control sets the shutter threshold where ISO starts to rise in compatible exposure modes. Choose that threshold for your subject’s speed, then review the files.
- Aperture: Try around f/5.6 for layered street scenes when light allows, wider in shade or when you want separation. With an APS-C camera, framing and subject distance also change the depth-of-field look.
- Shutter: Around 1/250 second is a starting point for walking people. Faster action needs a faster shutter; panning or an intentional blur needs slower. Check a frame at useful magnification.
- Focus: Use a focus area that lets you choose a subject. Sony documents tracking in the A6700 help guide; test whether it stays on the intended person instead of locking on a sign or a passerby closer to the lens.
- File choice: RAW and JPEG serve different workflows. Choose one you can store, edit and deliver, and inspect white balance under mixed street light.

Practice one kind of movement
Frame a permitted scene and photograph a person crossing it at several shutter speeds, respecting people who do not want a close portrait. Compare subject blur and focus separately. If the subject is sharp but the composition feels busy, move position or wait for a cleaner overlap instead of changing a setting.
Sony’s A6700 tracking guide and ISO AUTO Min. SS guide explain these controls. Our street photography guide and shutter-speed tips go beyond the camera menu.
Carry the camera on a street walk
A Peak Design Slide Lite strap in black, model SLL-BK-3, is one carry option for an a6700 street walk. Check the attachment points and anchor fit, follow the installation instructions and inspect the connections before leaving. Adjust it so the camera reaches your eye without swinging into anyone. A strap does not improve tracking or give permission to photograph someone up close. Keep practicing the framing and movement exercise above. Compare the current retailer specifications; no hands-on test, price or stock promise is being made here.
