  • Shutter: Around 1/250 second can be a starting point for a procession; go faster for dancing or a moving child. Under artificial light, test electronic shutter for banding and distortion before relying on silent capture.
  • Aperture and ISO: Open the lens enough for the light but keep important faces in acceptable focus. Auto ISO can help across venues; check the actual shutter and high-ISO files rather than copying a fixed ISO ceiling.
  • Storage: The R7 has two card slots. Canon’s card documentation explains insertion; confirm your chosen recording behavior in the camera and open test frames from both cards on a computer. Two cards in the body are not a verified backup by themselves.
  • Color: Test RAW and JPEG, white balance and your intended color profile under the venue’s light, especially colored LEDs or mixed window and lamp light.

Photograph someone walking toward you in similar light, then check focus and motion at a useful magnification. Transfer files from both cards. Prepare spare power and a second workable camera plan when the assignment calls for it.
