Archive: CES 2014. Sony introduced the FDR-AX100, a compact 4K Handycam with a 1.0-type back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor. Sony’s 2014 announcement described XAVC S recording and a 14.2-megapixel effective video sensor. This is a historical product announcement, not current buying advice or a claim that every camera uses 4K. The old post’s planned March shipping date and US price have not been checked against a US primary source and are not repeated.
