The Nikon D850 announcement belongs to 2017, not today’s camera news. Nikon first announced development of the DSLR in July 2017 and then released its full product announcement. This archive keeps the timing clear so a reader does not mistake an old press release for a new launch or current stock update.

Nikon D850 announcement: a 2017 timeline

In the original ShutYourAperture post, Nikon’s development announcement was quoted while final release details were still pending. Nikon later published its full D850 press release. The camera was positioned as a high-resolution full-frame DSLR for stills and video. Read the dated manufacturer release for its original specifications rather than relying on an early rumor.

If you are choosing equipment today, separate what the D850 offered at launch from current availability, condition and prices. A used camera also needs checks of shutter count, sensor condition, service history and accessories. Our camera buyer guide is a broader starting point; it does not certify an individual used body.

This is a short historical note. We have not copied the old press release as if it were new reporting or included an unverified embedded launch video.

Keep your own original photo files

For your own photo projects, keep original files separate from finished exports. This storage link is not a camera recommendation or a claim about the D850. A black Samsung T7 Shield portable SSD, 1TB model MU-PE1T0S/AM, is one storage option to compare. Check capacity and your computer connection before buying. Open the copied files and maintain another checked copy separately. A drive does not replace a complete backup plan. Compare the current retailer specifications; no hands-on test, price or stock promise is being made here.
