The image is called ‘Mordor’. This image was taken in the beautiful Val di Funes in the Dolomites, Italy. The little church’s name is St. Johann’s Church. While I was shooting the sunset, that actually took place behind me, the clouds above the peaks were constantly changing. I already captured different kind of situations and was shooting for about an hour when the colors seemed to be fading away. I packed my gear and was ready to walk to my car. Right at that moment there was a cloud behind the peaks getting a big reflection from the sun that was already down. It looked like some kind of nuclear ball and started glowing behind the peaks. I quickly set up my gear and started shooting again. It was already quite dark so the glowing effect made a beautiful contrast. This is a long exposure that gives a very surreal feel to the scene. Sometimes you get the best images when you least expect it!
