Pre-dawn arrival at least 30 minutes before the published first-light time. How to Get There
The Cadillac Mountain Summit Road branches from Park Loop Road inside Acadia. A timed vehicle reservation ($6 per reservation plus park entry) is required from late May through October — reserve at recreation.gov. The summit road is 3.5 miles from the entrance gate.
Camera Settings
16-35mm for the full panoramic bay view; 70-200mm to isolate the Porcupine Islands against the lit horizon. At sunrise: ISO 100-400, f/11, bracket 3 stops. The pink-to-orange sky gradient over the Atlantic is the subject — expose for the sky and recover the foreground rocks in post. Fall foliage: use a polarizer to saturate the lower slope colors.
