Washington Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn, runs directly underneath the Manhattan Bridge and creates one of New York City’s most geometrically satisfying compositions: the bridge arch frames the Brooklyn Bridge in the background, with cobblestones in the foreground and the East River between them. How to Get There

Take the F train to York Street or the A/C to High Street-Brooklyn Bridge. Washington Street is a 5-minute walk. No permits, no fees. The most photographed spot is at the intersection of Washington and Water Streets. The cobblestones are uneven — bring a tripod with a ball head that can compensate for tilt.

24-35mm, f/8-f/11, ISO 200-400, 5-20 seconds at blue hour. For an empty street, you need 15+ seconds so that pedestrians walking through ghost out completely. RAW capture retains full detail in the bridge arches against the dark sky.
